Injection moulding: dimensional control
Injection moulding is the process of choice for closures, spouts and components where thread geometry and wall thickness must be repeatable across millions of units. Tonnage is matched to the part — larger closures and multi-cavity tools need more clamp force.
Blow moulding: hollow bodies
Blow moulding suits hollow components where internal volume matters more than fine thread detail. It produces lighter parts for the same enclosed volume, at the cost of tighter control over wall distribution.
Choosing between them
In practice the component dictates the process. If the part carries a thread, a sealing land or a snap feature that must hold tolerance, it is an injection part. If it encloses volume with simple geometry, blow moulding is usually more economical.
