Reducing leakage in transit: a practical checklist

Quality · 05 Jun 2026 · 3 min read

Blow moulding equipment producing plastic packaging components

Most transit leakage traces back to five recurring causes. Each one is addressable before a production run begins.

The five recurring causes

Inconsistent neck finish on the container; application torque set outside the recommended band; a sealing land with visible flash; resin variation across lots; and packing that allows caps to be knocked loose in stacking.

Fixing it upstream

Four of the five are resolved before production — by locking the neck specification, validating torque on the actual filling line, and holding the resin grade constant across lots. The fifth is a packing and palletisation decision.
